In late 2017, I had started thinking about going back to school. In January 2018 I had gone back to MacEwan (Alberta College Campus) to upgrade my English, Math, Biology, and Chemistry. At the time I had no idea what I wanted to do so upgrading my high school grades was just a start for me.
One of the main ideas that I had was either an in-home care worker for Dementia and Alzheimer's patients, why? In 2009 Yabu Kota (and my favourite actress at the time Kuroki Meisa) were in a Drama called Ninkyo Helper which, without spoilers, is about YAKUZA members needing to work in a dying care facility that dealt with mostly Dementia and Alzheimer's patients. I have always had a fascination with the brain, especially when something (or itself) was destroying it and how it functioned (or tried to) after it was damaged. After finishing my upgrading in mid 2019 I overheard someone speaking at the MacEwan campus about a thing called the TYP program at the University of Alberta. I had decided to look into it and decided if I don't get into MacEwan's Psychiatric Nurse program, I'll join the TYP program.
After a lot of thinking, I decided to cancel my application to MacEwan and try for UofA, I was accepted. Here I decided to take Psychology classes because of Ninkyo Helper.
Because I was still interested in language, and I needed a second language to fulfill undergrad requirements, I decided there was no better time to take Japanese classes at an academic level. I understood some material, but forgot most of it and was happy to be learning again. At the moment, I can no longer take Japanese classes at the UofA due to not failing grades, but low enough grades to continue. This does not stop me though. I will be taking all of my Japanese classes at UBC where they have one of the best Asian language faculties in Canada.
I study Japanese because ultimately, I just want to understand JUMP lyrics and videos. It is a good skill to have as well, English as a first language in Japan. It is easy to become an English teacher there.
Just last year in January, I had decided to finally get braces because back in 2014, Yaotome Hikaru who had teeth much like mine had finally gotten braces. I had always problems with my jaw when it came to pain and functionality, so I thought there was no better time.
On a separate point when it comes to education, on a higher academic level, I am currently in the process of applying for international exchange from the UofA to Japan. Because of Covid-19, however, the application keeps getting delayed and may even be cancelled still, even with the roll-out of vaccines worldwide. The school I have been trying to get into is stationed in Tokyo, the campus I want to go to is in the Chiyoda region which is almost dead centre of the city. The school is Meiji University. A prestigious university known for its mathematical faculties such as Architecture and Engineering, but also its Cultural studies around Japanese History. Meiji University is the university that Inoo Kei had graduated from with an Architectual degree.
And finally, while it was always a dream of mine to travel to Japan just to see it, prompting me to finally get my passport in January 2021, I had actually decided that I am going to move to Japan after I finish all of my school here in Canada.
