Yamada Ryosuke was born in Tokyo on May 9, 1993. In early 2004 (before his birthday) he was accepted into Johnny's and Associates, he was only 10-years-old.
Domoto Koichi is his idol senior within the company, which could be influenced by his mother as well as his own personal experience. His mother was a fan of the KinKi Kids, which prompted her to send in his application for the company. His own personal experience with Domoto Koichi sprouted from being a Junior back dancer for years before his own debut.
Within Johnny's and Associates, many members get special titles based on their talents or personalities. Domoto Koichi and Yamada Ryosuke, in their early years in the company, both received the title "Prince" for their charming personalities and good looks.
Before being selected for debut in Hey! Say! JUMP, Yamada was selected to be one of five in the temporary group Hey! Say! 7.
From 2010-2014, Yamada was a member of a group called NYC which consisted of Nakayama, Yamada, and Chinen. NYC released five singles between 2010 and 2012. They ultimately disbanded when Nakayama Yuma decided he no longer wanted to be a part of a group and went solo.
Despite having many solo songs since debut in 2007, Yamada is the only member of Hey! Say! JUMP to have actual solo CD releases. in 2013 his first solo single "Mystery Virgin" was released. This single resulted in Yamada being the first teenager soloist that had reached number one on the Oricon charts in thirty-three years, selling 220,000 copies in the first week.
On top of being the centre of Hey! Say! JUMP as lead vocals and lead dancer, Yamada is also a lyricist, Saxophone player, model, producer, creative director, choreographer, TV show host, stage actor, and TV and movie actor.
As many Japanese male idols, singing, dancing, modelling, and acting is mandatory.
Yamada is an avid gamer, specializing in first person shooters like Apex Legends, and action role playing games like Monster Hunter.
